Apex Legends Tips for beginners

It’s been almost a month since Apex Legends was released, and yet nothing has been done: you can’t reach the Top #1. Worse, you realize that your many hours spent on PUBG or Fortnite are of little use to you. You, who on these royal battles knew only victory, now regularly flirt with defeat. In order not to leave you alone, we give you several tips to better control the battlefield, and who knows, maybe even finish at the top of the ranking with your squad. However, for the stability of the servers, there is nothing we can do.

Obviously, we do not claim to have the miracle solution to win the title of Champion at each game. But these few tips and indications should help you to better understand the subtleties of Apex Legends, to better organize yourself, and above all, to have a much more enjoyable game!

Forget about Fortnite and PUBG

Everything you know about the battle royale, you forget it (and if you don’t know anything about it, that’s good).

Haven’t you ever played a royal battle before in your life? Perfect, with Apex Legends, you’ll start with the most interesting title of its kind, if not the best. Indeed, where PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds is quite realistic, Respawn Entertainment’s game focuses on a more arcade, more accessible experience. As for those who have dosed PUBG, Fortnite, Realm Royale (there are some) or even the Blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, we advise you to forget everything you have learned, as the developers of Apex Legends have gone right and left to propose their own vision of the royal battle.

Use the training mode

To start, we strongly encourage you to spend a few hours in the “training” mode. If only to read the keys, and reallocate them according to your preferences. But above all, it will allow you to familiarize yourself with the weapons. Because unlike PUBG, gravity has little effect on bullets, and the recoil of weapons is infinitely more manageable.

Respawn Entertainment has thought of Apex Legends as a nervous game, and this is reflected in the gameplay. The developers thus allow players to slide. Abuse it. Not only will you be a harder target to reach, but you will often gain speed. This is an advantage when you know that the map is full of elevations and that the area is dangerously close to you.

Speaking of the area, one of the best ways to get out of it quickly, or even to join your teammates who have gone for a stroll in the distance, is the ball. On the map, several weather balloons are scattered here and there. These allow you to climb up and redeploy into the surrounding area via the air. However, be aware that the ascent is not without risk since you cannot retaliate.

If you are cornered on the edge of a cliff, don’t be afraid to jump: fall damage is not part of the equation. If, on the other hand, you need to climb (whether it is the cliff or something else), simply hold down the jump key.

Finally, unlike the other BRs, the death in Apex Legends is not final. Let’s say you are killed (i.e. grounded and then completed). If they can get rid of your immediate opponents, your teammates can retrieve your Legend banner from your dead body and take it to one of the reappearance markers located on the field of play. You will then be back in part, but with a hell of a malus: you no longer have any equipment.

Only one solution: communication

As Apex Legends gives a lot of importance to teams, we would advise you to play with two friends. Believe me, you don’t want to play with strangers, who during the deployment, decide to live their lives in their corner three kilometres from your drop point, and who leave the game angry, because they died stupidly by being alone against everyone.

The accessory most likely to ensure your victory over Apex Legends is a good headset. Once equipped, take your best voice and… COMMENT. Do you go to a building alone? Tell that to your companions. Do you think you saw an opponent go by in the distance? Notify your teammates. Do you have any extra equipment, or are you out of ammunition? Talk about it.

Let’s say you don’t have access to a headset. Respawn Entertainment has thought of you by adding the valuable marking feature, called “Smart Com”. With one click, you can indicate the presence of an enemy, a weapon, or let people know the direction to follow. And if you need to be more specific in your instructions, keep the pointing button pressed to bring up a menu of commands. In fact, when you think about it, use this means of communication to make your fingers bleed even if you have a helmet.

A professional always chooses his equipment with care
We know that there is a great temptation to recover everything that passes in your field of vision, especially at the beginning of the game, when the total lack of equipment is felt. But as in any FPS, not all weapons are equal.

Already, constantly ignore the Mozambique shotgun and the Alternator machine pistol. We’re not going to go in four directions: they’re two dung. Instead, choose the Wingman, a very honourable heavy ammunition revolver, the Peacekeaper, a shotgun with a good potato (but requiring some precision) or the R-301, a light bullet assault rifle that offers a good compromise for distant and close combat.

As a general rule, always rely on an assault rifle (heavy or energetic ammunition). For the secondary weapon, it’s according to your style of play. A machine pistol or shotgun if you often run into the melee, a sniper if you prefer to keep your enemies at bay.

Regarding equipment management, don’t overload yourself. Only take the ammunition you need, in reasonable quantities. Indeed, there is no need to take 40 magazines if you want to die in the first fight. Especially if you manage to kill your opponent, you can always loot his body. If you are trusted with care kits and bandages, don’t ignore armor refills. A charged shield is a minimum of 25 additional life points per shield level. Believe me, you don’t want to spit on this welcome protection.
